Harkins Building Carmel College

The Sisters of Mercy formed Carmel College to educate and empower young women to strive for excellence in accordance with the values and tradions of the Catholic and Mercy Missions. The Harkins Building, which was officially opened in 2013, provides new facilies for performing arts, informaon technology, music, social sciences and a library.

Colt Products and Systems supplied and installed Coltlite LWS natural venlators which are controlled by the building’s BMS and connected to rain, wind and temperature sensors allowing for the changing weather conditions. Coltlite is a dual purpose venlator providing both natural and smoke ventilation. Coltlite has high aerodynamic and acoustic performance, and has a high resistance to the effects of fire. Colt Products and Systems were also commissioned to supply and install SM5 Smoke Curtains in the stairway above the library for smoke containment in the event of a fire.
