The first underground railway in New Zealand produced a number of challenges for the architects and engineers. Colt Products and Systems worked with them throughout the whole process to satisfy the stringent form and function requirements.
A smoke curtain was required to span the entire subway, remain hidden, and to drop through a tiny slit in the stainless steel roof. While this proved a little difficult it was achieved thanks to the simplicity of the Colt Smokemaster smoke curtain.
Skilled tradesmen worked long hours to perfect the manufacture of the Colt triple bank louvre made of 316 grade stainless steel. Double and single door sets complete with acoustic louvres were also manufactured and installed on time and within budget.
