The rebuilt Wellington Regional Hospital is a strategic part of Wellington’s infrastructure and specified products had to be of an extremely high standard. Studies of the previous building had showed problems caused by salt laden sea air adversely altering the aerodynamics and quality of air supplied to the mechanical plant. Moisture entering through inadequate louvres had also taken its toll on equipment in the plant rooms.
Colt was chosen to supply its unique triple and double bank internationally tested louvre system for the entire project to overcome these issues. The fact that an uninterrupted louvre line could be achieved on these huge louvre banks, whilst still coping with high wind loads helped make up the specifiers’ mind. Colt assisted in the design of an additional 90º drift eliminator incorporated within the louvre to deal with the salt and was contracted to design manufacture and install the full package.
